years of frizzy hair!
On October 15 it will be 10 years since kroeshaar.com went live. I started the site to get an idea of who would be interested in my book, which was yet to be published. "Frizzy hair; what you need to know and more" I wrote because I thought there might be more women like me who wanted to stop relaxing, but didn't know good alternatives.
Conserve wanted to publish the book, but frizzy hair was still taboo at the time. I was curious who wanted to read about frizzy hair. So that's how it started. Now, 10 years later, here's a small overview of how it went. I wonder who remembers what. If I have forgotten something, please let me know.

Do you remember the old site? It was purple. Except for the forum, I manually updated the entire website and it is still working for the most part. Click on the link. http://www.kroeshaar.com/oudesite.htm. |
My debut as a writer. I didn't know what to expect but it was a great success: De Publicatie Kroeshaar; what you need to know and more. In September of the same year, the 1st Sabi Wiri Dei was held at Theater Unique in Suriname. |

I was very happy when First Lady Liesbeth Vanenburg Venetiaan promised an interview for kroeshaar.com. It was almost impossible to go wrong with her blessing. This was followed by a series of Kroesede Portraits. It seems like it was there from the beginning, but the Kroeshaar webshop only really opened this year. Also Going-Natural.com, the big sister of kroeshaar.com started in 2004, well before my first American book was published: Going Natural, How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair |

Satcha Valies went for Kroeshaar.com to provide a workshop for Adoption children in Otterlo ~~~~~ When I went to Suriname at the end of the year for the Sabi Wiri Dei, Nina Jurna made a report from kroeshaar.com for RTL. |

The year of most events:

Although I don't have any pictures of Adornment in the UK, it was quite an experience. Kroeshaar.com at Women Inc. was super successful. The woman in the photo on the left, Akisi, is one of the people I will never forget. She wrote me a sensitive email explaining what the meeting had meant to her. Unfortunately, it was lost in the 2008 crash.

was an inspiring year in many ways. Except for America's Next Natural Model I also had my first lecture and exhibition, The Pursuit of Nappiness, in Manhattan, New York. It was not to forget the year of Obama whom I have personally met. I was overjoyed that I was invited by Dutch TV to give my opinion about the US Elections. |

was a disaster. When moving to another Internet host, I lost almost both websites just when I had a virus on my PC that prevented me from having a backup right away. I spent months restoring pages and scraping information. A lesson never to be forgotten. You would almost forget that I am too had made a Frizzy Hair Calendar. |

In good spirits, kroeshaar.com has organized a new Sabi Wiri Dei together with SME. It became super spectacular with the popular Aunt Es and a fantastic frizzy hair show. ~~~~~ The models of Sisterlocks consultant Chantel and Anoushka Schmidth of Natural Nation Hair Salon attracted a lot of attention, but also the candidates for the very first Miss Kroeshaar. |
The success of the Sabi Wiri Dei 2010 was repeated in a larger space in Amsterdam South East. Indeed, it became even more spectacular if possible with a new Miss Kroeshaar chosen live by the public. See the photos here.

is not over yet but two highlights of this year were Frizzy hair goes Guadeloupe! and the Kroeshaar Film Festival in Suriname. Another highlight was when the America's Next Natural Model candidates did a photo shoot in Maroon attire. |
